Duane E. McCartney, 67, of Galion, went to be with His Lord unexpectedly after a short illness Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014 at the Ohio State University Medical Center.
Born June 29, 1947 in Galion, he was the son of Joseph and Bertha (Ohneck) McCartney. On Aug. 29, 1964 Duane married his high school sweetheart and wife of fifty years, Anita (Floyd) McCartney.
He graduated from Galion High School in 1965 and worked for the former Fisher Printing in Galion, Penn Central Railroad, D & S Advertising in Mansfield and the former Argus Imaging in Lexington. Duane was a member of the NRA, enjoyed working with computers and was a devoted family man.
In addition to his wife Anita he is survived by sons Brian McCartney of Mansfield, Brett (Kelly) McCartney of Crestline and Craig “Joe” (Leesa) McCartney of Galion; daughter Denise Delong of Crestline; grandchildren Alyssa McCartney, Hailey Delong, Hunter Snyder, Dillon McCartney, Rachel DeLong, Payton McCartney and Drake DeLong; great granddaughter Shaelee; brother Tom (Deb) McCartney of Galion and sister Patricia Cole of Galion.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brother Terry McCartney and sister-in-law Mary Ellen McCartney.
Following Duane’s wishes there will be no services.
