Ernest Franklin

Ernest G. Franklin, 82 of Mansfield, OH died early Friday morning, Aug. 22, 2014 at Winchester Terrace Nursing Home.

He was born Dec. 12, 1931  in Jasper, Alabama to the late Bennie Allen Franklin and James Franklin. 

Ernest was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. Ernest retired as a foreman after 29 years of service with General Motors. Known best as Ernie, he was an avid golfer and bowler. Ernie was a kind man but an outspoken man, he fought a good fight but in the wee hours of the morning of Aug. 22, he was called home.

Ernest is survived by his loving devoted wife of 56 years, Mattie Rowe Franklin; 2 daughters, Ernestine Bell of Jasper, AL and Gwendolyn Joyce (William) Bigsby of Madison, AL; 4 grandchildren; 10 great-grand kids; 6 sisters; 3 brothers; and a host of other relatives.

Ernest was preceded in death by his mother and father; 2 sisters; and 2 brothers.
