Denzil Gibson

Denzil Clayton Gibson, 86, of Ontario, died Aug. 19, 2014.

Born Sept. 11, 1927 in West Liberty, KY, he was the son of Jessie and Rockford (Lykins) Gibson. A quiet family man, Denzil was a skilled woodworker. He remodeled boats, made cabinets, furniture, and even homes, having built four homes with his wife. Denzil worked for General Motors for 42 years as Welder Maintenance and Robot Programmer and was a member of UAW #549. He also belonged to the Johnny Appleseed Woodcarvers Group of Mansfield and was a member of First Congregational Church for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Maxine Gibson, whom he married Aug. 28, 1948; children, Beverly (Dale) Dixon of Springfield, OH, Diana (David) Nedrow of Bellville, Joyce (Joseph) Picking of Ashland, and Kimberly Barnett Gibson of San Antonio, TX; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and sisters, Loretta Krupp of Wellington, OH and Etta Caskey of West Liberty, KY.

Denzil was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Troy and Donald Gibson; and infant sister, Dorothy.

A memorial service for Denzil will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44106. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of Denzil Clayton Gibson.
