On August 14, 2014 at approximately 8:30 a.m. the Richland County Sheriff’s Office developed information that a vehicle was transporting a large quantity of heroin in the area of 1000 Ashland Rd. The Richland County Sheriff’s Office contacted the METRICH Enforcement Unit for assistance. METRICH detectives and Richland County deputies set up surveillance in the area. The suspect vehicle was observed a short time later.

Richland County deputies and METRICH detectives contacted the occupants of the suspect vehicle and received consent to search the vehicle. During the search, approximately 57 grams of heroin was located inside the vehicle. Another thirteen 13 grams of heroin was located inside the female driver’s purse. The heroin has an estimated street value of $10,500. Detectives also seized $808 in U.S. currency.

Arrested and charged were John Douglas Browner of Plainfield, Indiana and Kaiulani Holmes of Mansfield, Ohio. Browner was charged with Possession of Heroin F-1 and Holmes was charged with Possession of Heroin F-2. Both were incarcerated at the Richland County jail pending their appearance in court.
