Murla E. Link, 86, of Mansfield, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at Hospice House in Ashland after a brief illness.

Born Jan. 15, 1928 in Menifee County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Edward and Myrtle (Fowler) Walton.

She retired from Ideal Electric.

Murla was a woman of great character and values. She was always willing to help others, but never willing to accept praises for the help she gave. She was an avid reader, averaging a book a day, and you would always find a book in her hand when you walked in her house. She also was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed  cooking for her family. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her great grandsons, Anthony and Alexander, whom she loved dearly. Murla will be missed greatly by those who knew her.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Link and Gerald Link; four grandchildren, Jerry Link, Jason Link, Jeffrey Link and Jennifer (Herbert) Harkness; and two great grandchildren, Anthony and Alexander Harkness.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Link; and three sons, Curtis Link, William R. Link and Harvey Link.

Per Mrs. Link’s request, there will be no public services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family or to Hospice of North Central Ohio in her name.
