Carrie F. Kirkendall, 85, of Mansfield, died Friday, August 1, 2014 at Wedgewood Estates. She was born December 11, 1928 in Kingwood, West Virginia, to the late Jacob and Orpha (Field) Feather. While living in Mansfield, Carrie had been employed as the bookkeeper at Shoemaker Construction and as a payroll clerk at the Ohio State Reformatory.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, C.O. “Kirk” Kirkendall and daughter, Kim.

Carrie is survived by a daughter, Karen (Charlie) Hatfield of Mansfield; a son, Kevin (Shirley) Kirkendall of Lucas; grandchildren, Derek Gottfried of Columbia, TN, Troy (Katy) Gottfried of Worthington, Drew Gottfried of Mansfield, Jacob Kirkendall of Ypsilanti, MI and Jessica (Randy) Patton of Worthington; great-grandchildren, Dacota, Brooklyn, Maci, Destini, Miles and Vera; as well as the families of one sister and two brothers who also preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends Monday, August 4, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. The funeral service will be in the funeral home Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Harold Nickell officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Ohio Bird Sanctuary, 3774 Orewiler Rd., Mansfield, OH 44903 to honor Carrie’s love of birds or to MedCentral Hospice, 335 Glessner Avenue, Mansfield, OH 44903.
