Marilyn J. Stauffer, 77, of Loudonville, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 3, 2014 in Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus following a short illness. Marilyn was born June 21, 1937 in Ashland and was the daughter of Donald E. and Evelyn M. (Schulte) Shaum.
She was a 1955 graduate of Ashland High School and had lived in Ashland County all of her life. On June 17, 1961 she married Philip M. Stauffer and they lived in Loudonville for over 50 years.
Marilyn was primarily a homemaker but for many years she worked at the former Woolworths Dept. Store of Ashland. She was an active member of Trinity Community Church of Loudonville, where she participated in the monthly community suppers as well as the church choir. She was also a member of the Hanover Grange, Pleasant Valley Community Club, Loudonville Ladies Guild, the Big Run Club, and the Mohican Area Historical Society.
Marilyn shared a fondness for playing the piano with her granddaughter and loved listening to her play. She collected cookbooks and miniature bells but her true hobbies were watching her grandchildren in all their extracurricular activities and enjoying a full house at Christmas time.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Philip M. Stauffer; 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Larry & Gale Stauffer of Wooster and Mark & Janice Stauffer of Mt. Vernon; 5 grandchildren: Zachary, Hillary, Mallary, Jillian, and Nicholas; 2 great-grandchildren: Carter and Calvin; and 3 sisters: Elaine Puterbaugh, Diann Coffman, and Nadine Deck, all of Ashland. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 9, at 11 a.m. in Trinity Community Church with Pastor John Temple officiating. Burial will follow in Loudonville Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, from 6-8 p.m. in the Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville.
