Robert P. Erdenberger, 86, of Mansfield, died Saturday morning, June 28, 2014 at Oak Grove Manor.
He was born Sept. 9, 1927, in Mansfield to the late Alfaretta (Martin) and Russell Erdenberger.
Affectionately known by everyone as “Uncle Bob”, he retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 35 years of service, then began his second “career” as a Madison school bus driver for over 20 years. An adventurer, Bob enjoyed traveling the United States, taking his many nieces and nephews along for the ride. After they were adults, he enjoyed traveling to their hometowns to visit with them as often as possible.
Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army and member of Grace Episcopal Church.
He leaves behind his adoring nieces and nephews, Rebecca (Gene) McKenzie of Cleveland, Rick (Diane) Erdenberger of Scottsdale, AZ, Jim (Jill) Erdenberger of Bellville, Kathy Erdenberger of Mansfield, Tom “TJ” Erdenberger of Boston, MA, Julia (Judson) Davis of Mansfield, Aimee (Tim) Snavely of Howey in the Hills, FL and Rod (Sue) Eddleblute of Mansfield, Mark (Betty) Erdenberger, Bethany Bennett and Melissa (Ron) Tuttle, all of Lucas; treasured great-niece and nephews, AJ Eddleblute, Ryan (Beth) Eddleblute and Kaitie Eddleblute; numerous great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Joanne Erdenberger of Lucas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, William and Jack Erdenberger; sister-in-law, Rose Erdenberger; niece, Christine Eddleblute; and great-nephew, Gohan Eddleblute.
A graveside service conducted by Pastor Doyle Peyton will be held Monday, July 7, 2014 at 1 p.m. in Mansfield Cemetery. The Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail will present military honors. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family.
