STARTEK Mansfield is holding an open house this Friday, June 27, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., during which visitors may tour the newly renovated facility, talk to staff members, and apply to become a STARTEK employee.

Tom Luther, Site Director, said that candidates are welcome to come anytime between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and should anticipate staying for at least two hours if they are interested in applying. He advised that candidates should “dress to impress” and bring with them an updated resume.

During the open house, visitors may fill out an application, take a behavioral assessment, enjoy lunch courtesy of STARTEK, and take a tour of the facility.

“It should be a fun day,” Luther said. “We’re going to make it an enjoyable and educational day and hopefully get some great people who will come and work for what we feel is the best company in Richland County in terms of employee culture and morale.”

In terms of what the company is looking for in an employee, Luther said, “We are looking for individuals with tremendous work ethic who exude a passion and take great pride in helping customers.”

He added, “If you love to help people and want to make a difference, customer service is the best line of work for you.”

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED; however, no prior call center experience is necessary in order to apply. “We offer four weeks of best-in-class training, along with a best-in-class coaching model that will help people prepare to provide excellent customer care” Luther explained.

STARTEK, an inbound call center for billing, payment, and basic technical support, is located at 850 W. Fourth St. in Mansfield.

Luther noted, “Today, we’re focused on pure customer service with our telecommunications provider. We will continue to focus on customer service, but we will also be moving into the receivables management line of business.”

He further stated, “We’ve had a tremendous performance year YTD in 2014. Mansfield has ranked in the top five out of 50-plus centers [globally] in terms of performance four out of five months in 2014 and that consistent performance has allowed us to enter into the receivables management realm with our client.”

The company is also actively involved and invested in the community. STARTEK announced the sponsorship of Madison’s new high school football stadium earlier in 2014 and is anxiously awaiting the grand opening in early September. Luther said STARTEK is currently sponsoring two major initiatives in Hoops for Youth with Mansfield Senior High School and the Ontario Youth Soccer program.

In addition to the open house, STARTEK is looking forward to hosting two after-hours events to spread community awareness about how the company has changed physically and culturally: one with the Chamber of Commerce on July 24, and one with Richland Young Professionals on Aug. 18.

Luther emphasized the need to strengthen community relations and show support for other businesses in the area through such opportunities as the after-hours events. “It’s all about giving back to the great people of Mansfield and Richland County. STARTEK firmly believes in a community first approach so we are always willing and excited to participate in any event that improves the community.”

He added that through the open house, as well as other upcoming events, STARTEK hopes to help the community better understand the company and what it has to offer.

“I really do feel that we are the hidden gem in Mansfield,” Luther commented. “I know we have best-in-class employees, leadership and employee culture, and when you combine that with the fact that we support a cutting edge telecommunications client, we are having a lot of fun day to day and look forward to our turnout this Friday at the open house to share our experiences with the community.”
