Richard L. Wilson, 74, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2014 after courageously battling Parkinson’s disease.

He was born October 5, 1939, in Jeannette, Pennsylvania.

Richard was a retired Die Setter from Ideal Electric, with 40+ years of service. During his retirement, he enjoyed fishing and camping at Charles Mill Lake and spending time with friends and family. He enjoyed his relationship with the Lord, sharing and witnessing with all he came in contact with. He served his country as a member of the Army National Guard.

He was survived by his wife of 33 years, Janie Wilson of Mansfield; sons, Bart (Nicki) Brooks and their children Christian, Carter, Caiden, Camden, Connor, and Collin, all of Mansfield, Jeff (Melissa) Wilson of Mansfield, and Rick (Mickey) Wilson and their sons Jeremiah, Christopher, Josh, and Cody, all of Boiling Springs, SC; a daughter, Robin (Barry) Wilson-Morey and their children Mike, April, Gary, Carrie, all of California; beloved niece, Melissa (Jesse) Walker, and her children Ashton, Elizabeth, and Julius, all of Mansfield.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his five sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services, conducted by Pastor Jerry Laudermilk, will be held Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Family and friends are invited to visit for one hour prior to the service, from 12-1 p.m. Military graveside services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veteran’s Burial Detail will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family or to the National Parkinson Foundation, 2800 Corporate Exchange Drive, Suite 265, Columbus, OH 43231.
