The Richland County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting yearly scheduled training for the Corrections Bureau on May 14 and 15. The training will consist of staff members training with Madison FD personnel in the proper usage of SCBA’s (self-contained breathing apparatus) and fire extinguishers. The training will also involve proper techniques on rescue of inmates during fire/smoke emergencies.
Also, in the afternoon sessions, the staff members will be trained in inmate suicide prevention and awareness of mental disorders in inmates. This section of the training will be provided by the medical staff of the Richland County Jail
The morning session of the SCBA and fire extinguishers training will be held at Madison FD located on Expressview Drive, with the afternoon session being conducted at the Richland County Sheriff’s Office classroom.
