The Richland County Retired Teachers Association (RCRTA) is sponsoring a free retirement planning seminar for all actively employed teachers and their spouses on Thursday, May 22 at the Main Street Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 230 S. Main Street, Mansfield.
Registration and a free light supper will be held 4:30-5 p.m., followed by a retirement countdown presentation by Tamla Cole, and a question and answer period.
The seminar will be most helpful for educators who are 12 -18 months from retirement but will include information for those who are five years out as well. Topics to be covered are how to calculate your final average salary, payment options for receiving STRS benefits, how and when to purchase service credit, health care changes and legislated pension reform that affects everyone after July 2015.
Pre-registered attendees will receive a take home a workbook to aid them in retirement planning. The past programs have been very informative and helpful, according to attendees.
To plan for workbooks and supper, one needs to pre-register by Monday, May 19, to Mary Thomas by calling 419 884 2721, or email Marsha Jaenke at mjaenke@neo.rr.com.
