Donald H. Shumway, 80, of Crestline, passed away early Thursday morning, February 27, 2014 at Mifflin Care Center. He was born December 24, 1933 in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He retired in 1991 from General Motors where he worked as a mechanic. He enjoyed mechanic work so much, he did it throughout his life, working on various cars. In his spare time, Don enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of U.A.W. Local #549.
He is survived by a son, Jeffrey Shumway of Crestline; granddaughter, Kelli Shumway (Michael) Hansen of NE; and a great-granddaughter, Celeste Hansen of NE.
A Gathering of friends and family will be held from 3-7 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2014 in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. Military honors will be presented at 7:00 p.m. by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Park at a later date.
