Newly appointed Common Pleas Judge Brent Robinson is selected by the Richland County Republican Party Central Committee to be on the fall ballot.

The Richland County Republican Party Central Committee members met Thursday night at Ed Pickens Café on Main for a meeting and decided to place newly appointed Common Pleas Court Judge Brent Robinson on the fall ballot.

Due to the timing of the departure of longtime Richland County Judge Jim Henson, both the Republican and Democrat parties have the capability of placing a candidate on the fall ballot.

By unanimous vote and consent by the Central Committee, Judge Brent Robinson was formally acknowledged as the committee’s candidate of choice to be placed on the fall ballot. The appropriate paperwork will be filed with the Richland County Board of Elections.

Central Committee Chairman Mark Arnold stated that “although the process for both parties is political at this point in time, in the November election, candidates are not listed with a party designation.”

Judge Robinson stated, “I am excited for the opportunity to retain the position of common pleas judge so I can continue to serve the citizens of Richland County.”

Arnold continued by saying to the Central Committee, “We are celebrating tonight because I hope some years from now that you were here to participate in submitting Judge Robinson’s name to the Board of Elections to fill the fall ballot vacancy, and allowed him to start a long and successful career as Judge in Richland County.”

“I am excited for the opportunity to retain the position of common pleas judge so I can continue to serve the citizens of Richland County,” stated Judge Brent Robinson.
