Recently, I signed up with a new program with one of our preferred rental car companies. I wanted to experience it for my clients before promoting it. I did not have a chance to use it until this past holiday and was very pleased with the service.
The program is with Avis and is called Avis Preferred. This preferred service requires you to have your driver’s license and credit card on file with them, but there is a reason why.
The first time you use the service you do not need to go to the counter inside the airport terminal. You go directly to the garage or parking lot where the cars are located. You will have to go up to the counter in this area. You register at this counter and then you are on your way. The nice thing about this service, especially for business travelers is that you will never have to go to any counter again after the first time at this preferred level. You just walk out to the preferred area check the board and grab your keys and go.
Once you go to the preferred lot and you see the rental car set aside for your trip, you have another option. If you do not like the car waiting for you, you can pick up any other car in the same preferred lot. If you want a larger vehicle you can upgrade at sometimes no cost.
The other really great feature about this service is the drop off. With the preferred program with Avis you do not drop the rental off with the regular drop off’s. You have an Avis Preferred drop off area. When you return your vehicle you just drop it off and get on your way. There is no waiting for an attendant to check you in. Your receipt is emailed to you once they scan the car as returned in their system. Again this is a terrific option for business travelers and those with families that need to get going!
