The Pearl Conard Art Gallery at The Ohio State University at Mansfield is proud to present “Striking Balance,” an exhibition featuring the work of Jacob Tonski. The exhibition kicks off Feb. 17 with a slide lecture at 1:30 p.m. in 476 Ovalwood Hall and an opening reception at 2:30 p.m. in the gallery, 145 Ovalwood Hall. The exhibition runs through March 7.
Tonski, whose work explores dynamic balance through kinetic metaphors, holds an MFA from the Design & Media Arts department at UCLA. He studied computer science at Brown University and worked as a Technical Director at Pixar Animation Studios.
Recently he presented at the Haystack Mountain School of Craft and The School for Poetic Computation. He was awarded a 2013 Sustainable Arts Foundation grant and was a 2010 fellow at the Carnegie Mellon University Studio for Creative Inquiry. He is currently an assistant professor of art and interactive media studies at Miami University, Ohio. His creative work has been exhibited in China, in Brazil, and throughout Europe and the United States.
Gallery hours are Monday and Wednesday 11:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Friday 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
