On Tuesday, January 28, Community Action For Capable Youth (CACY) is hosting a problem gambling prevention training at the Longview Center Upper Conference Room from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
As casinos and video lottery terminals (VLTs) at race tracks open in Ohio, state agencies have joined together to form an initiative to combat problem gambling. To that end, Richland County has embraced this opportunity to provide information and training to professionals on the history of gambling, definition of problem gambling, connection of gambling and substance use, costs and consequences of gambling behaviors, public health approach to prevention and treatment, Ohio gambling prevention priorities, and applying community prevention strategies.
The speaker for the session will be Derek Longmeier, MBA, OCPS II, Drug Free Action Alliance Program Manager. Lunch will be included as part of the training.
