The annual Mid-Buckeye Conference (MBC) Fall Sports Banquet was held on Monday, November 18, recognizing students involved in athletics at Danville, East Knox, Loudonville, Lucas, Mansfield Christian and St. Peter’s. After a welcome message by East Knox Athletic Director, DerickBusenburg, and invocation by Halle Schultz from East Knox, over 250 students, coaches, administrators and family members enjoyed a family-style meal at Der Dutchman in Bellville before moving into the presentation of All-Conference awards. In all, 124 students and seven coaches were recognized for their performances this fall.
Honored as 1st team All-MBC in golf were Austin Frank – Danville, Garrett Quickle – Loudonville and Brayden Baldridge – Danville. Receiving Honorable mention: Jordan Frank – Danville, Jared Stover – Danville and Katherine Mickley – Danville. Selected as the 2013 MBC Coach of the Year was Pat Mickley from Danville, while the Most Valuable Player, based upon his performance over the course of two MBC invitationals was Brayden Baldridge from Danville.
In volleyball, the MBC 1st team included: Kristin Kurtz – Mansfield Christian, Oliviah Cook – Lucas, Melissa Mickley – Danville, Meghan Brady – East Knox, Halle Schultz – East Knox, ToriHarris – Loudonville and Andie Heffelfinger – Loudonville. Recognized as 2nd team MBC were: Kim Tomchak – St. Peter’s, Kilee Stoner – Mansfield Christian, Alexandra Purdy – Lucas, Monica Honaberger – Danville, Megan Furby – East Knox, Maddie Cooperrider – Loudonville and Rileigh Stake – Loudonville. Those receiving Honorable Mention were Carli Malec – St. Peter’s, Lauren Banks – Mansfield Christian, Amanda Smollen – Lucas, Kaylee Kirk – Danville, Mikayla Little – East Knox and Rebekkah Lietenberger – Loudonville. Honored as the 2013 MBC Coach of the Year was Julie Kline from Loudonville. The Player of the Year was Andie Heffelfinger from Loudonville.
The MBC girls’ soccer 1st Team included Oliviah Haller – St. Peter’s, Della Hall – St. Peter’s, Kirstie Schneider – St. Peter’s, Lydia Eichorn – Mansfield Christian, Lexi Dilley – Mansfield Christian, Jessica Harper – Mansfield Christian, Emily Smith – Mansfield Christian, Kasie Ady – Mansfield Christian, Emily Weber – Loudonville, Ruthanne Bandy – Loudonville, Mikala Kopp – Loudonville, Kourtney Hill – Loudonville and Carolyn Glaser – Loudonville. Members of the 2nd team are Emily Yeager – St. Peter’s, Gabby Zaika – Mansfield Christian, Addalyn Patrick – Mansfield Christian, Miranda Kiner – Loudonville and Brooke Dennison – Loudonville. Recognized as Honorable Mention were: Caroline Blunk – St. Peter’s, Rachel Ballitch – St. Peter’s and Rebecca Poole – Loudonville. The girls’ soccer Coach of the Year was Laurie Weber from Loudonville, with the Player of the Year from Mansfield Christian, Lydia Eichorn.
In boys’ soccer, the 2013 All-MBC 1st team is comprised of Joe Byers – East Knox, Matthew McDaniel – East Knox, Clayton Glaser – Loudonville, Will Henley – Loudonville, Dan Pflueger – Loudonville, Caelin Young – Loudonville, Danny Rice – St. Peter’s, Austin Smith – St. Peter’s, Michael Berick – St. Peter’s, Adam Blunk – St. Peter’s, Josh Cochran – Mansfield Christian, Brendan Ernsberger – Mansfield Christian, Matt Millard – Mansfield Christian, Brandon Mount – Mansfield Christian and David Cochran – Mansfield Christian. The 2nd team was announced as: Noah Phillips – East Knox, Kristofer Koons – Loudonville, Avery Baith – St. Peter’s, Sam Paul – Mansfield Christian and Stevie Brown – Mansfield Christian. Honorable Mention selections included: Jack Leaning – East Knox, Tim Trapp – Loudonville, Chris Dillon – St. Peter’s and Chandran Higgins – Mansfield Christian. The Coach of the Year was Jesse Rider of Mansfield Christian. Player of the Year honors went to Josh Cochran also of Mansfield Christian.
The girls’ cross country All-MBC 1st team was made up of: Rylie Weber – Loudonville, Purity Kimani – St. Peter’s, Morgan Kline – Loudonville, Abby Reynolds – Mansfield Christian, Maddie Moss – East Knox, Sara Robbins – Loudonville, Claire Reynolds – Mansfield Christian and Emilie Schworm – East Knox. Honorable Mention performers were: Brianna Cooper – Lucas, Isabelle Wienhardt – Mansfield Christian, Tori Keller – St. Peter’s, Harley Watt – Lucas, Lynsey Myers – Mansfield Christian, Maggie Myers – Mansfield Christian and Sage Weber – Loudonville. The 2013 Coach of the Year was Doug McPeek from Mansfield Christian and the girls’ Runner of the Year was Emilie Schworm from East Knox.
In boys’ cross country, 1st team honors went to: Connor Prince – Lucas, Matt McDaniel – Eat Knox, Isaac Boroff – Lucas, Chris Baldasare – St. Peter’s, Anthony Mulherin – St. Peter’s, Connor Pollard – Lucas, Bailey Duterman – St. Peter’s and Kyle Shindeldecker – Lucas. Receiving Honorable Mention were: Gunnar Hill – Loudonville, Anthony Schlitt – St. Peter’s, Mike Serrato – Loudonville, Chris Linden – Loudonville, Tyler MacQueen – Loudonville, Nicolas Switzer – Lucas, Kane Kent – Lucas and Isaiah Jarvis – Mansfield Christian. Named the 2013 boys’ cross country Coach of the Year was Lucas’ Jennifer Wood, while Kyle Shindeldecker, Lucas, was named the Runner of the Year.
Football 1st team honors went to: Matthew Smollen – Lucas, Dominik Strassell – Lucas, Joe Ickes – East Knox, Cody Howard – East Knox, Dylan Wears – East Knox, Marshall Magers – Danville, Andy Payne – Danville, Conway Baldridge – Danville, Greg Briggs – Danville, Coleman Quay – Loudonville, Tristan Bender – Loudonville, Ty Young – Loudonville, Ryan Weber – Loudonville, Kolton Edmondson – Loudonville. Receiving 2nd team honors were: Mason Galco – Lucas, Justin Jacobs – Eat Knox, Austin Gonzales – Danville, Kyle Graham – Loudonville and Cody Dellenbach – Loudonville. Honorable Mention selections were: Kolton Bernhardt – Lucas, Demetrius Susi – East Knox, Thomas Hawk – Danville and Michael Itschner – Loudonville. Honored as Coach of the Year was Justin Todd of Loudonville. The Offensive Player of the Year was Kolton Edmondson from Loudonville, while the Defensive Player of the Year was Ryan Weber from Loudonville.

After congratulatory and closing comments from Eric Teague, MBC Commissioner and Principal/Athletic Director of Lucas High School, Joe Ickes of East Knox gave the benediction before Derick Busenberg closed the event.
