Eloise F. Pittenger Holmes, age 97, of Pavonia passed away Thursday evening October 17, 2013 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital.
She was born September 16, 1916 near Pavonia to Leo H. and Tressa (Ferree) Pittenger, graduated from Weller High School, and lived her entire life on a 250 acre farm in Pavonia.
She is survived by nephews and nieces Judy & Don Bucknam of Naples, FL, Jerry & Barbara Pittenger of Mansfield, Bob & Beth Boyce of Portland, OR, Karen Gibson of Westerville and Corina Boyce of Mt. Vernon; great nieces and great nephews Kristin & Darrell Arnold of Ontario, Karyn & Tim Swanger of Cincinnati, Mark & Amy Pittenger of Knoxville, TN, Laura Rhoades of Ft. Wayne, IN, Brad & Susan Bucknam of Ft. Wayne, IN, Claire & James Ellison of Katy, TX, Laura Boyce & Jesse Cramer of North Bend, WA, Kaycee Boyce, Ceejay Boyce and Codee Boyce all of Mt. Vernon; and numerous great great nieces and great great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Holmes; her son Richard “Dick” Holmes; sisters June Adams and Leota Boyce; a brother Albert Pittenger; nephew John Boyce and great niece Stacy Bucknam.
Her family will receive friends Monday, October 21, 2013 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, 350 Marion Avenue (Former Finefrock Funeral Home), where her funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. Pastor Bruce E. Haapalainen will officiate. Burial will follow in Pavonia Cemetery.
