My background is in budgeting, finance and business. In the past year on council I have sponsored 26 pieces of legislation, seven of those to repair/resurface streets and bridges. Other bills included increasing penalties for unlawful parking in handicapped spaces, improved litter control and increasing DUI fines.
My goals for my next term are simple:
• Make Mansfield a safer place for all. When you think about it, if you’re not safe, nothing else matters. We all need to support our safety forces and give them the manpower and the tools to protect every citizen.
• Provide opportunities for our children to grow up in a city where they WANT to live and work. Mansfield has lost about 3,500 people since the last census. We need to provide opportunities to stop the exodus of our children and create a greater demand for housing.
• Make Mansfield more business-friendly. There is more we can do to make it easier to do business in the city, and also more attractive to potential start-ups.
• Support the arts: We are the fun center of Ohio! I have been honored to serve on the board of trustees at the Mansfield Playhouse, and currently serve as Business Manager.
Mansfield is on the rebound. I was glad to vote for the Budget Stabilization Fund, which insures city services will continue even if we are impacted by adverse business conditions or natural disasters that cause an unforeseen drain on city resources. Many of the dilapidated dwellings are coming down, with an expected 132 demolished by the end of the year.
Much remains to be done. Hard decisions will need to be made. I am committed to improving conditions for ALL citizens, so I ask for your vote to keep the city moving forward.
I currently live in Mansfield where I work as a Packing Supplies Quotation Specialist at Skybox Packaging. I was previously appointed to council in June 2012, and serve on the Finance, Streets and Airport Committees.
I have been married for 33 years, and we have raised our two children in Mansfield.
