The Mansfield Christian Flames lit up their home soccer pitch Thursday evening, toasting the St. Peter’s Spartans in a 6-2 victory.
The Flame’s Lydia Eichorn started off the scoring streak by charging the goal and making a swift shot into the net. Less than a minute later, Lexi Dilley added another point to the MCS scoreboard.
Fired up from her successful play, Dilley returned shortly after to supply an assist to Zoe Young’s goal, giving the Flames a three-point advantage.
St. Peter’s Emily Yeager scored the Spartan’s first point, launching the ball several yards away and causing it to swoop beautifully in between the goal posts.
Returning in the second half, Megan McCarrick snuck the ball into the net from a shot at the goal made by fellow Spartan, McKenna Crutchfield.
MCS, however, picked up their intensity and saw three more goals—two from Eichorn and one from Jessica Harper, thus ending the game in an MCS victory of 6-2.
Flame goalie, Maddie Kiliany, made seven saves and Spartan goalie, Reagan Roley, made 17 saves.
MCS will play Loudonville on Monday night away and St. Peter’s will play Ontario the same night at home.
