Secretary of State Jon Husted outlined key dates and deadlines for upcoming Nov. 5 general election.
Tomorrow, Sept. 21 (45 days prior to the election) Ohio’s 88 county boards of elections are required to have ballots prepared for all military and overseas voters who have requested an absentee ballot for the Nov. 5 general election.
Military voters who have not yet registered to vote or submitted a request for an absentee ballot may still do so by visiting http://www.OhioMilitaryVotes.com and/or http://www.OhioVoterPassport.com for overseas voters. There they can download the Federal Post Card Application, register to vote and request an absentee ballot, get answers to FAQs, track their ballots and sign up for election reminders via e-mail or social media. They may also contact their county board of elections directly.
Absentee ballots for the rest of Ohio’s voting population will be available starting on Oct. 1 (35 days prior to the election) for both in-person and by mail. For information, go to www.MyOhioVote.com.
The deadline to register to vote for the November 5 General Election is October 7, 2013 – 30 days before Election Day. Voter registration forms are available at www.MyOhioVote.com. Voters who need to update their address also have until October 7, 2013, and can use the Online Change of Address System available at www.MyOhioVote.com.
To register to vote, update voting information, request an absentee ballot, find contact information for Ohio’s 88 county boards of elections or obtain more general information about the Nov. 5 general election and how to participate, all Ohioans are encouraged to visit www.MyOhioVote.com.
All voters are encouraged to link with “OhioSOSHusted” on Facebook and Twitter to get elections information and updates throughout the year. Here they can also get a virtual voting sticker badge to let their friends and followers know they’ve participated in the general election. Facebook users simply need to “like” Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted’s official Facebook page to “wear” a virtual sticker on their wall. Twitter users may share their voting badge by visiting the Secretary of State’s website.
