On September 14, officers from the Mansfield Police Department’s second watch attempted to make contact with the occupants at 119 ½ Pleasant Ave., Mansfield after receiving several complaints of drug related activity there. While officers were at the door they observed a white female attempting to swallow some type of narcotics after she saw them at the door.
Officers intervened and prevented her from swallowing the pills. The officers also noticed a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the residence. At that time the officers requested assistance from the METRICH Enforcement Unit in drafting a search warrant. Detectives drafted a search warrant which was signed by the Honorable Judge Ault. The search warrant was then served.
During the search, detectives located and seized a quantity of marijuana, 12 individually wrapped packages of heroin, approximately 13 grams of crack cocaine, 13 ecstasy pills, 17 unit doses of 30mg hydrocodone and 42 unit doses of 20mg hydrocodone. In addition to the illegal narcotics, detectives also seized a .38 caliber Derringer pistol and $4540.11 in U.S. currency.
Officers arrested and charged a 16 year old male with Drug Trafficking and he was incarcerated at the Richland County Juvenile Attention Center. Additional charges will be forwarded to the Richland County Prosecutor’s Office after the investigation is closed.
