If it seems that the flow of news from Richland Source slowed to a trickle in the last couple of days, there’s a good reason. The news team has had to rein in our enthusiasm—but just for a couple of days – to make sure we got moved in to our new offices. Yesterday we left our incubator at MT Business Technologies and moved to our new offices at 21 Temple Court. We are excited to be in our own space, but we’re also very appreciative of the hospitality we received from everyone at MT.

Mid-afternoon on Thursday, we packed our files and supplies into our personal vehicles and along with a box truck MT provided for the boxes and printers, we caravanned over to Temple Court. The writers and support staff saw the offices for the first time. They’re intimate, yet sleek and oh, yeah, all new.

Our downtown offices situate us in the heart of Richland County but we have an embracing reach. Our writers have roots all over the county. We all graduated from local high schools and attended Ohio colleges and couldn’t be happier to be home—and in the heart of things. And we’ve already grown, welcoming freelance writers who will help us respond to the requests for stories that we receive and the ones we find in our own backyards.

Editor David Yoder, who lives near Shiloh, said, “I love being downtown. It’s exciting to be in a place that has hosted a lot of history for this county and then also see a lot of growth and opportunity. It’s exciting to be a part of that.”

“I’m excited to be in downtown Mansfield where all the action is happening. It’s a new adventure,” added staff reporter Emily Johnson.

We’ll back to our full schedule by the weekend, and we want to thank our readers who have been so very supportive. Also, we want to make sure to offer special thanks to the whole crew at Engwiller Properties, Ritter’s Office Supply, Ohio.net, National Electric Supply, and all of our new neighbors in downtown Mansfield.
