The Be Focal Buy Local sector of the Richland County Development Group (RCDG) recently reconvened and members old and new were eager to make plans for the fall.
Jeff Kent, founder of Be Focal Buy Local, wanted to stress the importance of the group’s mission. “We’re here to do two things, educate people and increase business in Richland County.” He reminded everyone to keep their use of the Facebook group positive and to share their experiences at local businesses. “It isn’t Craigslist, talk about the good things you see at local retailers,” he said.
Moving forward the group will distribute their minutes on Facebook as well as through RCDG. Meetings will continue to be held at the Mansfield-Richland Chamber of Commerce building once a month with the next meeting at 7:30 a.m. on September 11.
Given the overwhelming success of the last networking event the sector will continue to host regular happy hour events. Several in attendance at the event report new contacts and new business for their companies. The next happy hour will be held at MVPs on September 4.
There was discussion of possibly hosting a Halloween happy hour, and sector members will explore options and report back a the next meeting. Group members also expressed interest in educational workshops for business owners with a particular interest in social media, these items will be discussed in greater depth at the September meeting.
