When Ontario City Council met this week, councilmen Mark Weidemyre announced that the company interested in purchasing land in the Industrial Park accepted the counter offer presented. Other activity included councilman Paul Williams sharing updates on the utilities committee. And a number of ordinances were passed during the council meeting.
Weidemyre announced to council that the as yet unidentified company has been in contact with the city about purchasing land in the Industrial Park accepted the counter offer that was presented.
“If all goes well we are hoping to close on that by the first of the year. It is good news for the city because we will gain a prospect of jobs,” said Weidemyre.
Williams addressed council on the utilities committee update. On Thursday night, the utilities committee met with Ohio State University-Mansfield representatives to discuss a new entrance to the facility and the sewer system within the campus.
“What is being asked from Ontario is the amount of $5,000 to be paid for our share of the project,” said Williams. A meeting will take place before council meets on August 15 to discuss future plans.
Some ordinances passed by council included road and repaving projects, along with sanitary sewer improvement projects. A resolution was passed allowing a tax budget for the fiscal year 2014. And a park will be named Doris Carr Park in the Spring Village Subdivision.
