Dear Editor,

Concerning the proposal to build multiple establishments on Cook Road, Mansfield, I have become overcome by what will be built there.

I have lived in the Woodland area for 47 years, 43 years on Bigelow Road, and from 2022 I now live on Stewart Lane ½ block from Woodland Road. My dog Ronnie and I walk there several times a day, as do many other people all day long.

The road also sees a lot of vehicle traffic all day as people avoid the main roads. Cook Road, a two-lane residential/commercial road would see a complete devastation of the area.

Thinking of the changes this would make for the area has affected me physically, mentally, and spiritually. I really am so disturbed by it that I cannot think of anything else.

What is proposed shows a complete lack of creativity by cramming as many unattractive constructions as possible on the land.

It is supposed to bring more business to Mansfield, however, where are all the people coming from who are, theoretically, to inhabit these places? This is not “The Field of Dreams” where if you build it they will come.

Who also is going to own the buildings and take care of them?

And what if the group that starts all this has second thoughts and leaves the project half finished?

It could very well see other places to invest in that would leave this dangling. Most of all, the very good homes that are now around the land will be so greatly affected.

Traffic congestion, the cost of the homes, the safety of it all for everyone is inevitable. I surely hope the City Planning Commission will reject this project and not go on with it.
