Inez Staples Remmer, 90, of Mansfield, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Mansfield Memorial Homes after a brief illness. She was born on July 17, 1922 to the late Steve and Ellen (Greene) Staples in Gadsden, Alabama.

She retired from the O’Neil Company after 33 years. She was the first Adult Day Care worker of Mansfield Memorial Home. She was a dedicated Christian working untireing in her church and with all who knew her. She was a member of New Beginnings Full Gospel Baptist Church, serving on Mother’s Board, Senior Choir and Leadership Training. She was a past member of the Mount Hermon Missionary Baptist Church where she served as the church Secretary for 30 years and was also Sunday School Superintendant, Choir President, Missionary and organized the Christian Women Working for Christ. She served as past President of Akron-Sub District of NOBOA, past president of Mansfield American Business Women being woman of the year in 1986. She loved reading and working all kinds of puzzles. She was always busy helping others in her apartment building on 10 Blymyer Street, organizing her ladies choir and prayer sessions.

She leaves to mourn ~ her daughters, Ann (Roscoe) Lindsay of Mansfield, OH, Ellen Richardson of Buffalo, NY and Betty King of Knoxville, TN; sons, Steven (Ora) Remmer, Lester Remmer and Paul Eugene Remmer all of Mansfield, OH; two special daughters, Belinda (Johnnie) Morgan and Hilda Grier; two special sons, Rev. Joel King, Jr. and Reggie Shaw; the New Beginning church members who were all so special to her; 16 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; 26 great great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Ruby Staples of Columbus, OH. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Remmer; a daughter, Delores Young; two sons, Robert and Jeffrey Remmer; a sister, Jewel Underwood; and a brother, Ernest Staples.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Mount Hermon Missionary Baptist Church conducted by her pastor, Rev. Patricia Sullivan. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the church on Thursday.
