MANSFIELD — The Mansfield Area Y has named Sara Baker its new Director of Development and Marketing effective Sept. 11.
The organization stated that Baker will play a critical role in engaging and inspiring community members to invest in the growth of the YMCA as an organization and its programs.
“I’m thrilled and honored to be joining the Y to help advance its important mission through community investment,” Baker said.
In her position, she will be a member of the Y’s Leadership team and will report directly to Cristen Gilbert, President and CEO. Baker is responsible for creating and implementing plans to secure financial support for the Y’s programs and special initiatives through contacts with individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations; ultimately positioning the Y as the “charity of choice” within the community.
As a Richland County native, Sara earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Ohio University with an emphasis in Marketing and Communication. Following graduation, Sara began her professional career in the Marketing Department at Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.
During her five-year tenure at the Columbus Zoo, she facilitated events and fundraisers in collaboration with other local non-profits to raise awareness and funding for the respective organizations.
