Judith Anne (Downs) McClead

MANSFIELD: Judith Anne (Downs) McClead, Mansfield resident, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. She was 81.

Judy was born November 6, 1939 to William & Eleanor Harriett (Kaiser) Downs. They moved from Columbus to Mansfield when Judy was a child. Judy attended Madison High School where she met Keith McClead and the pair married on July 29, 1954.

Judy was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and NASCAR racing, and enjoyed watching her daughters’ and grandsons’ sporting events. She very much enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, including her extended family of the Facire Club. Judy hosted all the big family gatherings at the home she festively decorated for each holiday. You could count on her having one of the best light displays in the neighborhood at Christmas time.

She retired from Jay Plastics after over 30 years on the third shift.

She is survived by five daughters: Terri McClead (Mary Jo Hawk), Kathy (Ralph) Wilkinson, Becky McClead (Barb Snyder), Jammi McClead (Kelly O’Brien), and Bobbi McClead (David Kastner); her sister Betsy (Vern) Ketchum; her siblings-in-law: Paul Fisher, Charles (Valerie) McClead, Letha McClead, Carroll Schweyer, Jim McClead (Melanie Riggleman), and Norene (Steve) DeLong; two grandsons: Ed Wigton and Kellen O’Brien; four honorary grandchildren: Taylor McClellan, Allison Downs, Jayden Hawk and Makenna Hawk; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Keith McClead, her sister Susan Fisher, and her sister-in-law Karen Schweyer.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 30, 2021 from 4pm to 7pm in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. Calling will continue Saturday, May 1, from 10-11 am at Trinity United Methodist Church (1592 Grace St, Mansfield) where a funeral service honoring her life will begin promptly at 11 am.

Pastor Mike Mack will officiate. Lunch will be served at the church immediately following the service. Burial will be held at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Lucas at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
