Donald Alvin Gregg, 81, of Mansfield, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016.
Donald was born on April 20, 1935, in Nova, Ohio, to Sturgeon and Lucille (Grimwood) Gregg. He graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1954. On Oct. 7, 1956 he married his high school sweetheart, Maxine “Louise” (Myers) Gregg and they shared over 59 wonderful years of marriage.
He retired from Bender & Loudon Motor Freight after 27 years and was a Teamster for 33 years. He served in the 453rd Antiaircraft Army Reserve. He was an avid Ohio State Football and OSU girls basketball fan. He attended Cook Road Baptist Church.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Maxine “Louise” Gregg; one son, Don (Cindy) Gregg; three daughters, Deb (Ed) Piroska, Darlene Azbell, and Tiffany Gregg; one sister, Jeanne Pelasky; two brother-in-laws, Howard (Sue) Myers and Bill (Teresa) Myers; numerous nephews and his faithful dog, Heidi.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Bonnie; mother and father-in-law, Maxine and Howard Myers; and brother-in-law, Robert Myers.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Werner-Gompf Funeral Home, 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield, Ohio 44905. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2016 with Pastor Jack Hackworth officiating. Burial will follow in Vermillion Cemetery.
