Cecil I. Thompson Jr., 66, of Galion, died Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Cecil was born in Honaker, VA on May 16, 1947 to the late Cecil and Geraline (Eaton) Thompson, Sr. He married Erma J. Martin on July, 7, 1966 and she survives him.
Cecil was a graduate of Galion High School Class of 1965. He worked many years at Peabody Galion. He was a member of the Galion Moose Lodge #303. Cecil has many passions including antiquing, garage sales and old cars. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time in the outdoors. He loved playing poker and other card games. His greatest love was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his son Brian & Heather Thompson of Galion; his three daughters Toyi Thompson, Galion, Tara & Shane Welch, Galion, and Tanya & Scott Kintner, Galion; his nine grandchildren Zachary Axline, Shelby, Brytni Warren, Columbus, Skyler Axline, Andrew Axline, Kaytlin Roston, Hailey Thompson, Cassie Thompson, Raegan Welch and Ashtyn Welch all of Galion, his great-grandchildren Jayden Warren, Madilyn Axline and Maliyah Warren; two brothers Roger & Barb Thompson, Mansfield, Jimmy & Tina Thompson, Galion; his two sisters Brenda & Jack Patrick, Galion and Barb & Terry Chartier, Crestline.
Friends may call Friday, April 4, 2014 from 6:00 – 9:00 PM at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 5 at Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion, with Rev. Dr. Faith Proietti officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Galion.
