MORROW COUNTY — Two Morrow County residents were killed in a one-vehicle crash Sunday at 6:32 a.m., according to the Mount Gilead Post of the Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash occurred on Morrow County Road 25 at Ohio 314 in Chester Township in Morrow County.

The driver was identified as Edward Virgin, 48, of Marengo. Virgin was driving a silver 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and failed to stop at the stop sign on County Road 25 at Ohio 314, the patrol said.

The vehicle traveled across Ohio 314 and struck an embankment. Virgin was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Charity Virgin, 40, of Marengo, was a passenger in the vehicle and was wearing her seatbelt. Virgin was transported to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

It is unknown if alcohol and drug usage are factors, the patrol said.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Big Walnut Fire Department, Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, Morrow County EMS, and the Morrow County Coroner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation, according to the patrol.
