Two dogs meet at the Car Show, benefitting the Humane Society of Richland County.

MANSFIELD -- Lori Cates and her husband, Chris, have always had a love for animals and car shows.

They two have taken in stray dogs and a cat while regularly attending car shows -- especially events that helped support the Humane Society of Richland County.

"We have a love for animals," Lori said. "And we enjoyed going to the car shows that supported the humane society.

"We went in (20)14, (20)15 and (20)17, but in (20)17 there wasn't one. So we decided to take it on."

The car show will be held at Spitzer Motors, 1777 W Fourth Street on Sunday, Sept. 22.

There is a minimum expected donation of $10 for each registered car. All proceeds go towards the Humane Society of Richland County. Admission is free to the public.

The inaugural event was a success, Lori said, partnering with Spitzer Auto Group and local businesses, they attracted 145 cars and donated $6,342 to the Humane Society of Richland County.

"We had great sponsors last year," Lori said. "We have great businesses this year  who donated great prizes fro games."

Lori added the event will present 30 awards to the top cars.

"This event will be awesome and will be a great way to help support the local efforts at the human society," she said.
