Well, that rerprieve didn’t last long.
Barely a day after Friday’s high winds blew through north central Ohio, a second blast is on tap.
At 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, the National Weather Service issued a high wind watch and advisories for northern Ohio stretching from Sunday at 2 p.m. to Monday at 8 a.m.
Another system will bring strong winds to the region on Sunday with southerly gusts of 50 to 60 miles per hour possible. Upstream showers may enter on Sunday night and bring the potential for damaging wind gusts and a low end tornado threat.
The advisory stated that strong winds may persist into Monday with southwest to west wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph. Southwest to west wind gusts on Monday could also approach 50 mph and the wind advisory may be extended later.
As we all know, strong winds can blow around unsecured objects, down tree limbs, and cause power outages. Winds could also cause difficult driving conditions, especially for high profile vehicles.
Friday’s damaging winds knocked out power across huge swaths of north central Ohio, downing tree limbs and making even driving dangerous.
Authorities note that the safest place is inside and away from windows. Residents should secure loose items, too. For more details, check the PDF below.
