NORWALK — Aiden Proctor wrestled like he had something to prove.

Madison’s junior 157-pounder, Proctor put the finishing touches on a dominant performance at the Division II Norwalk district with a 16-3 major decision over Clear Fork’s Luke Lee in the finals.

Proctor registered two pins Friday and scored a pair of major decisions Saturday to claim the crown.

He looked nothing like the wrestler who staggered to a fourth-place finish at last week’s Galion sectional.

“Last week I don’t think I was eating the right stuff or putting the right water in me,” said Proctor, who improved to 43-6. “I was (concerned about last week’s performance) to a point, but I know what I can do.”

Proctor, who placed eighth at state at 165 last year, was one of 15 area wrestlers to punch their tickets to next week’s state meet at Ohio State’s Schottenstein Center.

Team Title

Clear Fork will send a record five wrestlers to Columbus, but it was a win by sophomore 285-pounder Luke Remy in the fifth-place match that secured the team title.

The Colts finished with 129 points. Perkins took second with 125.5.

Remy pinned Norwalk’s Cooper Gee in the first period to secure the team trophy.

“I did not know,” Remy said when asked if he knew what was riding on his match. “I was told to just go out there and have fun and I did what I had to do.”

Clear Fork boasted a pair of district champs in 113-pounder Caleb Snyder and 144-pounder Anthony Oscar. Lee was runner-up to Proctor at 157, while Lakoda Leedy was third at 175 and Colton Wenger was fourth at 120.

“To represent the Clear Fork community and the Clear Fork program, I’m just super proud of our guys,” coach Nick Allerding said. “There’s so many people who (contributed to the district title) and I appreciate all of those guys.”

District Champs

In addition to Proctor, Snyder and Oscar, the area produced two other district champs.

Ontario 120-ponder Aiden Ohl won his third district title. He picked up a 9-3 decision over Clyde’s Heath Norris after recording tech falls in his first three matches of the tournament.

“I’m on a mission,” Ohl said. “I’ve definitely cranked up my intensity in the room and just been working harder every day and focusing in on small details.”

Galion’s Gradey Harding scored a 13-4 major decision over Ontario’s Tyler Turnbaugh in the 132-pound finals.

“I was kind of in a slump there in mid-season. I wasn’t wrestling my best,” Harding said. “I’m getting out of it for sure. I’ll be good to go next weekend.”

State-Bound

Shelby 106-pounder Sebastian Cain and Madison 285-pounder Jaxin Stancombe claimed runner-up honors Saturday. Galion’s Carter Trukovich was third at 126 and teammate Ryder Alberty was third at 138.

Ontario’s Gavin Miller beat Galion’s Kane Hay in the third-place match at 150. Both are headed to state.
