According to multiple reports, a metal fabrication services and products company with locations in Shiloh and near Shelby has closed those locations. On Friday, Jan. 31, Voisard Manufacturing called employees to work and informed them that their employment had ended.
General manager Chad Constein was not available for comment.
A former, employee who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that the company called employees to the meeting on Friday. Once gathered, they were told to pick up their personal belongings and turn in their keys to the building. Their employment was over.
The former employee said the announcement came without warning. The individual was unsure of a specific reason or explanation but noted the company had seen recent layoffs and that employees took a 20% pay reduction to begin this year.
Voisard lists its main offices at 60 Scott Street in Shiloh. Mayor Marilyn Hall of Shiloh said that the village was aware of recent reductions in staff, but that Friday’s reported closing came as a surprise.
Hall said that Voisard had not contacted her or responded to an attempt to reach them for confirmation or explanation.
The company’s website says the Voisard has an 85 year history in metal fabrication and was acquired in 2003 by LG Industries, LLP.
