William Clifton Thompson

March 20, 1926 – February 20, 2017

A new angel lives in heaven today as William Clifton Thompson passed peacefully at his home after a long illness. Clifton was born March 20, 1926 in Morehead, Kentucky, and most recently lived in Mansfield with his beloved daughter, Carol. He loved farming and being surrounded by his family.

He was predeceased in 2014 by his wife of 69 years, Josephine.

He has three daughters, Carol McClain of Mansfield, Phyllis Schuck of Southern Pines, North Carolina and Barbara Gingery, deceased. Clifton has seven grandchildren, Jeff McClain (Susan), Brett McClain (Amy), Carol Mullins (Aaron), Shaun Gingery, Kara Kearce (Rodney), Matthew Birky and Casey Schuck. He has 16 great grand children and 3 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby on Friday, Feb. 24 at 11 a.m. Reverend Earl Tackett will officiate. Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
