James Danny Gregory, 77, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Avita Health Systems – Galion Hospital. Danny was born on June 1, 1948 to the late Clifton and Thelma (Stidham) Gregory in Clearfield, Kentucky.
Danny graduated from Shelby High School in 1966 and began his career at PPG as a relief operator. He retired from the company in 1998 after many years of dedicated service.
Following many years of shared memories and a deep bond, he married his beloved wife, Jacqueline (Betti) Smith, on September 6, 2025.
Danny was truly one of a kind. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures-especially cooking for those he loved, with his famous gravy burgers becoming a family favorite. He loved the open road and could often be found riding his motorcycle, with a special place in his heart for Harleys. Fishing brought him peace, while car racing and demolition derbies brought excitement, and he rarely missed a chance to watch either.
Above all else, Danny loved his children and grandchildren fiercely. He was their biggest supporter, always present, always encouraging, and always proud. A loyal sports fan, he cheered faithfully for Michigan and the U.K. Wildcats. Danny’s passions, laughter, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
Left to cherish Danny’s memory are his beloved wife, Jacqueline Smith; his son, Shannon (Heather) Gregory; his grandchildren, Kayla (Corey) Morrison, Zachary (Zoe) Gregory, Austin (Desiree) Gregory, Brooklyn (Braxton) Gregory, Kindsey Gregory, Morgan (Stephanie) Thomas, Lance Gregory, and Jessica Gregory; his great-grandchildren, Kenton, Eliot, Haizleigh, Beckett, Lakelynn, Anslee, Ellie, Armani, Kinslee, Haizlyn, Khaleesi, and Khayr; his sisters-in-law, Lorrie Treisch and Irene Morris; and his special furry companion, Ellie Rose.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Danielle Gregory, Tyler Gregory, and Jason Gregory; his sister-in-law, Terry Betti-Parker; and his infant sister, Cathy Gregory.
