Joanne Marie Wolford Smith, age 94, of Delaware, Ohio, passed away Sunday evening, January 18, 2026, at her residence.
Joanne was born on April 1, 1931, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Kenneth Crunkilton and Caroline (Schiller) Crunkilton.
Joanne graduated from Union High School in the class of 1949. Following graduation,
Joanne married E. Dean Wolford on January 7, 1950. The pair went on to enjoy 55 years of marriage before E. Dean Wolford’s passing in 2005. After the passing of Mr. Wolford, Joanne married Forrest Smith in 2006. The two were together for 8 years. Before Forrest’s passing.
Over the course of her career, Joanne worked as an Executive Secretary for many businesses. She was good at her job and helped these businesses to keep running at tip-top shape.
In her youth, Joanne enjoyed playing in both golf and bowling leagues. Later in her spare time, Joanne liked decorating the house, writing, and cooking. Some of her family’s favorite meals that Joanne would cook included cabbage rolls, vegetable soup, as well as her beef and noodles.
Most of all, Joanne loved to spend time with her family. She was so proud of all her
children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Joanne was an independent, organized, loving, kind, and intelligent person who will be
dearly missed by so many.
In addition to her parents, Joanne is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years E.
Dean Wolford and husband Forrest Smith of 8 years.
Joanne Marie Wolford Smith is survived by her sons David (Leslie) Wolford and Dan
(Kim Potter) Wolford; daughters Jody (David) Kunkle and Susan (Gil) Friday; sister and
best friend Carol Lifer; sisters-in-law Ruth Schrock and Janice Srnis; grandchildren
Jennifer, Adam (Katie), Brian (Katie), Jessie, Ben (Jennifer), Jaclyn (Dan), Abbey
(Steve), Megan (Shawn), Luke, Zach, Cal and Julia; 11 great-grandchildren; a host of
nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as special friends Nate and Kristen Porter and
their family.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at 501
St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Private funeral services will be held at a later date.
