Gloria Jean Cox, 75, of Mansfield, passed away Monday morning, Feb. 20, 2017, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
She was born May 22, 1941, in Paris, Kentucky, to the late Johnny and Olive (Addis) Mounts.
She moved to Mansfield at the age of 14 and graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1959. Her church was the center of her life and she was a faithful member of Christian Life Church, serving as Sunday school secretary and treasurer since the age of 16.
Faithful, devoted to her family, a wonderful cook and fantastic sister, Gloria’s family was her world. She used her excellent cooking skills working as head cook for Mansfield City Schools. She enjoyed traveling, attending church and playing Facebook games with her friends.
Gloria is survived by two daughters, Angie Taylor, of Mansfield and Felisha (Matt) De Lay, of Canton, Mississippi; two grandchildren, Keylee Taylor and Arianna Chandler; two sisters, Elaine (Fred) Rose and Kathleen Cooper, both of Mansfield; three brothers, Richard (Becky) Mounts, Kenny (Betty) Mounts, and Carl (Sharon) Mounts, all of Mansfield; and many nieces and nephews that were very special to her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John Cox; brother and sister-in-law, David and Joyce Mounts; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Cooper.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at Christian Life Church, 961 Springmill St., Mansfield. The funeral service officiated by Pastor Troy Wooten will be held in the church Friday at 11:00 a.m. with additional visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Lantz Cemetery.
