Devon Thomas Pursley, beloved son, grandson, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Hattie Larlham Center for Children with Disabilities in Mantua, Ohio at the age of 21. He was born on October 15, 2004, in Bamberg, Germany, to Thomas and Melissa (Hornung) Pursley.
Devon was known for his joyful spirit and love for adventure. He cherished his time spent with family, especially his beloved Grandma Mary Lou, and had a special bond with his father, who was his superhero in every sense. He shared fond memories with his Aunt Patty Maddy, attending Blooming Grove Seventh Day Adventist Church, and enjoyed Saturday afternoons cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Devon’s passions included exploring the worlds of Spiderman and Transformers, and he spent many hours delighting in play with his army men, bringing hours of joy to himself and those around him.
In addition to his parents, Devon leaves behind his grandmother, Mary Lou Pursley, Crestline, his uncle Andrew (Cheryl) Pursley of Rocky River; aunt Melanie (Shelly) Doehring of Council Bluffs, Iowa, cousin Taylor Adkins, and numerous aunts, uncles, great aunts, and great uncles.
Devon was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth “Lizzy” Pursley, Fred Pursley (Paternal Grandfather), Joachim Hornung (Maternal Grandfather) and Patty Maddy (Special Aunt).
A private family service will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery, Crestline.
