Shirlene Lowe, 80, of Mansfield, passed away late Thursday evening, Jan. 12, 2017, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
She was born in Pike County, Kentucky, on Aug. 5, 1936, to Bert and Dorcie (Short) Spears.
Shirlene was a very humble, thoughtful woman who always gave of herself to others with a joyful heart. Her entire existence revolved around her family and she treasured the time spent with her children and grandchildren. Special trips to Kentucky and fun day trips in Ohio with them were a highlight.
Young at heart, she was a pleasure to be around and a wonderful confidante if you had a problem. A self-made woman, she was very independent. Cooking and shopping were at the top of her list of fun activities.
Shirlene married a wonderful man, Billy J. Harrill, and they spent 25 years together, traveling to many places and making wonderful memories. She retired from Tappan Co., and previously worked at Westinghouse Corp. and various other jobs throughout the years. Shirlene was a secretary with the Steelworkers Union for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Billy J. Harrill; four children, Patricia (Michael) Whitlatch, Earnie Dyer, Randy (Janet) Dyer and Teresa Leiler; two stepchildren, Julie (Kevin) Cumbie and Jeffrey Harrill; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; special family members, Emma Spears and J.R. Spears; two siblings, Shelby (Earl) Swiney and Fate Spears; and several nieces and nephews.
Shirlene was preceded in death by her first husband, Glen Lowe; parents, Bert and Faye Spears and Dorcie and Frank Hoskinson.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service conducted by Rev.
