Helen (Davis) Gallentine Reamsnider, 90, of Galion passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Elmcroft Assisted Living Center in Ontario.
Born Feb. 6, 1926 in Freedom, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Carl Davis Sr. and Zelma (Mofett) Davis. A 1943 graduate of Crestline High School, Helen graduated from Mansfield School of Practical Nursing and retired from the former Rosewood Manor in Galion after 23 years.
She previously worked at North Electric in Galion, Timken in Bucyrus and Crestline Hospital. She enjoyed cooking, traveling with her daughter and collecting recipes. Helen belonged to Galion Hospital Auxiliary Twig II, where she served as Treasurer, and belonged to Women of the Moose Chapter 177 in Galion.
Survivors include children, Richard Gallentine Jr., of Indiana, and Debbe (Larry) Steinhilber, of Galion; grandchildren Eric (Cheryl) Steinhilber, of Mansfield, Michelle Bollinger, of Galion, and Chad (Malinda) Steinhilber, of Mansfield; great-grandchildren Zachary, Sydney, Nicholas, Dillon and Brittany and brothers and sisters, Ruth Johnston, of Crestline, Betty (Bill) Rinehart, of Leesville, Diana “Chickie” Tinch, of Galion, Carl Davis Jr., of Crestline, and Robert Davis, of Raleigh, North Carolina.
In addition to her parents and former husband, Richard Gallentine, Sr., she was also preceded in death by her son, Donald Gallentine; grandson Harley Gallentine; step-mother, Harriett Davis; brother; Harry Warren Davis and sister, Laura Davis.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2017 with Simon Avila officiating. Burial will follow in Iberia Cemetery.
