Gordon Walter Halliday PhD of Uniontown, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Altercare of Hartville, Hartville, Ohio, after a short illness. He was 77.

He was born January 7, 1948, to parents Robert Wayne Halliday and Margaret Edith Tuttle of Wooster. Prior to his high school graduation, Gordon studied abroad for a year at De Aston School, Market Rasen, Lincolnshire, England, and graduated from Wilmington Senior High School in 1966.

He was raised in the Quaker faith with his parents Robert and Helen (Clark Shank) Halliday. Gordon earned a Bachelor’s degree from the College of the Arts in Psychology during the winter of 1969 from The Ohio State University in Columbus, and his Master’s Degree in 1973 and Doctor of Philosophy Psychology degree that was conferred upon him from The University of Kansas on October 13,1975. On August 28,1976, the State of Ohio Board of Psychology certified him as a duly licensed Psychologist.

Gordon met the love of his life, Diana Dall at OSU, and they were married on December 22, 1969, and they spent 51 wonderful years together.

Gordon worked for many years as a Clinical Psychologist for The Center for Individual and Family Services in Mansfield and worked his way up to the Clinical Program Supervisor and Clinical Director positions while living in Lexington. He also worked for a local mental health center in Gallipolis for several years. Gordon had many professional writings published in his specialty of dreams, and children and nightmares, and was pleased to be interviewed for a Mansfield New Journal article on ”Nightmares: Mansfield Psychologist helps kids cope with midnight monsters,” published January 6, 1995. He eventually retired as a Clinical Psychologist at the Mohican Juvenile Correctional Facility.

Gordon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, and loved his family dearly. He lived in Bellville with his wife Diana for over 20 years, and later relocated to Uniontown about two years ago. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, fishing, feeding the birds, walking in the local parks, going to art museums, playing cards, and reading classical literature, poetry, and science fiction novels.

He is survived by his daughter Nancy and her husband Steven Dollard; two granddaughters, Samantha and Renee; siblings Kirk Wayne Halliday, Sally Shank Hunt, and Chris (Elisa Hart) Shank; nieces, nephews, and many extended family members.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents Margaret, Robert and Helen, and his wife Diana, brother Bruce Richard Halliday, sister-in-law Stephanie Rose (Varanese), nephew Jonathan R. and niece Maria Therese, and brother-in-law Jim Hunt.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date with the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home (81 Mill Run Road, Bellville, Ohio).

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Stark Parks, the Greater Cleveland food bank, or the Democratic National Committee.
