Main Street Books is hosting the National Book Release of David FitzSimmons’ second children’s book, “Curious Critters Volume Two.” FitzSimmons will be at the bookstore between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 7. He will be speaking, showing slides, and signing books. Both volumes of “Curious Critters” will be available.
In volume two of the award-winning “Curious Critters” series, photographer David FitzSimmons depicts a variety of animals common throughout North America.
See images of everyday animals including a great-horned owl, American alligator, bluegill, striped skunk, gold-green sweat bee, cave salamander, sidewinder, and more. Each photo is accompanied with a short narrative, told from the critter’s perspective, which educates and entertains.
“Curious Critters Volume One” received five national book awards, including the 2012 IBPA Bill Fisher Award for Best First Book (Children’s/Young Adult). For a sneak peek at the Critters, visit www.Curious-Critters.com and www.WildIrisPublishing.com.
In writing the “Curious Critters” books, FitzSimmons imagined that each critter talked to him during its portrait session and that he was just writing down what was said. Both audiobooks capture the sometimes calm, other times excited, and occasionally irascible personalities he envisioned. Calling upon a stable of diverse and animated voiceover talent, the two audiobooks bring forty-one animals to life.
David FitzSimmons is an award-winning freelance photographer and writer as well as a university professor. He photographs and writes for various magazines, including “Outdoor Photographer,” “Popular Photography,” and “Shutterbug,” newspapers, and online publications, and his 100+ calendar credits include numerous titles by BrownTrout and Barnes & Noble.
