MILFORD TOWNSHIP — A Mount Vernon man was killed after a one-vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon, according to the Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Thomas Stewart, 85, of Mount Vernon, was pronounced deceased at the scene, the Patrol reported.
The incident took place at 3:10 p.m. on Johnstown Road.
According to the Patrol, Stewart was operating a 2024 Hyundai Tucson northeast on Johnstown Road. The vehicle crossed the center line, veered off the left side of the roadway, and struck a tree.
The Patrol stated that was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Mount Vernon Police Department, and Mount Vernon Fire Department.
The incident remains under investigation.
