SHELBY — Shelby City Schools has announced that longtime educator Tim Rodenbaugh has been selected as the next assistant principal of Shelby High School, pending board approval at the July 21 meeting.
He is expected to officially assume the role on Aug. 1. Rodenbaugh brings more than two decades of experience at Shelby High School to his new leadership role.
Rodenbaugh will take over for Troy Schwemley, who recently accepted a supervisor position at nearby Pioneer Career and Technology Center and was approved in June by the Pioneer Board of Education.
Since joining the district in 2003, he has served as a Health and Physical Education teacher and wrestling coach.

“After 22 years of teaching at Shelby High School, I’m honored to take the next step in serving our students and staff,” Rodenbaugh said. “Becoming assistant principal allows me to help shape a positive school culture beyond the classroom.”
Shelby Superintendent Michael Browning praised Rodenbaugh’s deep connection to the school community and his consistent leadership.
“Mr. Rodenbaugh has built strong relationships with students, staff and families during his time here,” Browning said. “His commitment to student growth and to the success of Shelby High School makes him an excellent fit for this role.”
A Medina native, Rodenbaugh is a graduate of Highland High School and Mount Union
College. He began his teaching and coaching career at Mansfield City Schools before coming to Shelby.
He and his wife have made Shelby their home and their two daughters attend school in
the district.
“Stepping into the assistant principal role is a natural extension of my commitment to Shelby High School,” Rodenbaugh said. “I’m excited to work alongside dedicated staff to create an environment where every student can thrive.”
The district looks forward to the experience and dedication Mr. Rodenbaugh will bring to Shelby High School in this new role.
