Kathryn A. Corney was a very modest lady but more than that her ministry was caring for others and as family matriarch taking especially good care of her family.
After failing health, Kathryn, 92, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016 at Millcreek Nursing Center in Galion.
Born Jan. 9, 1924 in Galion, she was the daughter of Albert and Martha (Helfrich) Neumann. She married Walter W. Corney on Dec. 28, 1945 and he preceded her on Nov. 14, 1986. Not only was she married to Walter for 41 years she remained loyal and true to him for 30 years after his passing for a total of 71 years.
Kathryn was a farm wife raising her six children while assisting her husband with farming activities as well as gardening and canning. Kathryn kept Hallmark Greeting Card Company and Flair Pens in business for many years by mailing cards to family and her many friends.
She loved hosting family gatherings for any reason including many birthday and holiday celebrations. She enjoyed her role as mom and grandma taking her family on summer vacations for many years. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Peace Lutheran Church Women and was a graduate of Galion High School.
She is survived by children Cindy Warren, Nancy Johnson, Terry (Cheryl) Corney and Denise Corney, all of Galion, Kevin (Pam) Corney, of Bucyrus, and Tanya Sue Corney, of Fulton; grandchildren Christopher (Sarah) Corney, Michael Corney, Ashley (Kyle) Spence and Kristie (Jacob) Alexander and great-grandchildren Addison, Andrea, Calvin and Kameron.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by granddaughter Kelly Midlam.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 S. Market St., Galion, Ohio, 44833 where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, with Pastor Richard Genzman officiating. Burial will follow at Iberia Cemetery.
