Eleanor Bettac (Barlow), 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Crystal Care Nursing Facility in Mansfield, Ohio.
Born on October 10, 1929, in Dema, Kentucky, Eleanor was the daughter of Miles and Alta (Layne) Hall. She spent most of her adult life in Shelby, Ohio living on Broadway Street. A graduate of Wayland High School, she was employed by the Shelby Standard Company for more than 30 years, retiring in 1995.
Eleanor loved to travel, especially to the shores of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and the mountain charm of Gatlinburg, Tennessee. As the eldest of twelve children, she cherished family gatherings in Kentucky, where lively games of Rook with her siblings were a beloved tradition. She had a lifelong passion for gardening, known for growing and canning vegetables to share with those around her. Along with her garden, spending time outdoors enjoying the warm sunshine was one of her favorite pastimes. Even in later years at Crystal Care, she delighted in tending a small, raised garden filled with her favorite plants.
Above all, Eleanor loved and adored her children and grandchildren. Her family was the joy of her life. In her final days, she made the most important decision of all- accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.
She is survived by her sons: Paul (Laureen) Bettac of Bellville; Danny (LuAnn) Parrigan of Shelby; and Gary Parrigan of Millersburg; six grandchildren: Jessica (Ben), Alyssa, and Erica Bettac; Daniel (Kristi), Jeremy (Nick), and Kyle Parrigan; and four great-grandchildren: Leo Solomon, Austin and Lauren Parrigan, and Ford Parrigan-Perrotta. She is also survived by three brothers: Charles “Bear” (Joan) Hall of Dema, KY; Jerry M. (Judy) Hall of Frankfort, KY; Garnis R. (Sally) Hall of Howard, OH; one sister, Priscilla “Docky” (Roy) Huff of Dema, KY; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings: William Edgar Hall, Glenn Darrell Hall, Maynard Hall, James Vernon Hall, Fonda Kaye Sparkman, and Christine Nickles.
Per the family’s wishes, no services will be observed at this time.
